Congregational Care
Congregational Care
Congregational care strives to be the hands and feet of Christ by identifying and responding to those in need among the Argyle UMC family of faith and recognizing significant life-changing events of its members, long-time attendees and visitors, including church-related events such as membership, confirmation and baptism.
Argyle UMC’s director of Congregational Care weekly identifies needs for encouragement, visitation, prayer and other forms of care. These needs are addressed by volunteer laity. The Congregational Care coordinator wants to know from our church members when someone is in need of care. To pass these needs along, please contact Pat Wellborn, Congregational Care Coordinator, at the church office at 940.464.1333 or pat@argyleumc.org.
Pastoral Care
Pastoral care is provided by our ministerial staff and includes:
- Visitation in the home on an as-needed basis and on special occasions
- Pastoral counseling on a limited basis
- Performance of funerals and weddings, including pre-marital counseling
Hospital and Home Visitation
Visitation is provided by either of our staff ministers or our lay members. Please call Pat Wellborn in the church office immediately so a visit can be made in a timely manner.
Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministers provide one-to-one Christian care to individuals facing life challenges. The role of a Stephen Minister is to listen and care, not to advise or give counsel, and to recognize when a person’s needs exceed what they can provide. Stephen Ministers maintain only one caring relationship at any given time and usually meet with their care receivers on a weekly basis. Confidentiality is preserved at all times by not discussing care receivers by name or by implication. For referral, please contact Todd Mead, Adult Spiritual Formation Pastor, at the church office at 940.464.1333 or todd@argyleumc.org. If you'd like to learn more about Stephen Ministry, please click here.
Prayer Requests
Your prayer requests are received and sent to the confidential prayer chain for intercessory prayers on your behalf. You can relay your prayer requests via the Prayer Request tab on the Home Page or by contacting Pat Wellborn at the church office at 940.464.1333 or pat@argyleumc.org.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Over the centuries shawls have come to symbolize shelter, peace, and spiritual sustenance. Since the inception of the Prayer Shawl Ministry in 1998, people have donated their time and talents by creating hand-knitted and crocheted shawls for those in need. If you are interested in the Prayer Shawl Ministry, contact Jane Kayler at
